Topics at Noon – Sleep and executive network function in older adults

Sleep and executive function commonly decline with advancing age. There is increasing evidence that changes in sleep may influence the extent of executive function changes. Thus, sleep is a potential target to mitigate executive function decline in older adults. Here, we will discuss the sleep features associated with executive function and underlying brain networks in older adults and the extent to which improvements in sleep are associated with improved executive function.
