Community Professionals Training Series on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias

Supporting People with Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Dementias (ADRD) & Their Families: Strategies & Resources

Course Objectives:

  1. Become aware of how ADRD impacts different groups of people related to gender, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, and citizenship.
  2. Understand the risks associated with caregiving and be familiar with a caregiver burden screening tool.
  3. Know how to apply active listening to empathic/ supporting communication skills for persons with ADRD and their families.
  4. Become aware of formal resources and strategies to use both formal and informal resources to meet these needs.

Program is open at no cost to community providers working with persons who have ADRD or their caregivers.
Continuing Education: L/CSW, LPC, LMFT (Pa.) and Nursing: No cost for the first 40 professional CE registrants; $10 for all others.
